About The Book

A gripping thriller about a teenage boy sucked into the dark world of a cult. Eighteen-year-old Joe is bored. Stuck at home after a bout of glandular fever, all his friends have left Manchester and gone to university. When he meets Kate and Nick on the train, something about them appeals to him. So he goes to see them at their commune, a farm in rural Todmorden. Gradually, Joe’s life starts to make sense. With the White Ones he is wanted, and his life has a purpose. When he meets Bea at the farm, he really feels that his life is complete, and he decides to leave his family and live with the White Ones forever. But there is something sinister about Fletcher, the Todmorden White Ones leader. Is all as perfect as it seems?

Amazing. Poor Joe. As my group read through the book (we’ve not read ALL the book yet) we were drawn to every page. We decided that this was one of the best books that we’ve read. We felt pitty for Joe as he was sucked into the cult, and when he drained his social life of any fun

The book was one of the best books we’ve read, although we havent come quite to the end we’ve beeen drawn to every page of the book. I think that Joe was a good normal person, but we slowly watched him change to a white one: whilst doing this,Joe suckked every pleasure and piece of fun out of his life. We felt sorry for Joe as we unfolded his siituation in the Cult.
