How It All Began
It was just after the pressure group Fathers For Justice staged one of their publicity stunts - I forget which one - that I got thinking about dads and sons. Not that I’m either, but I was struck by how fierce a father’s love can be for a child. And the lengths to which they go to keep them ... And I’m thinking ...what if ... what if a loving father turned out NOT to be the sort of father a teenager would like to have.
And so Close-up was born.
Sort of.

Close up was a very good book. I love it how Jimmy (one of the main characters) thought of his life in film frames , so he could see how he wanted things to turn out.
I also like it because you get the feeling that Sherry Ashworth (the author) was talking to you , because she wrote it in form of a diary. My favourite part is when he’s imagining a love scene with Liz , but then her Mum suddenly phones to tell her she’s on her way home. Altogether it was an awesome book

All in all, we all thought the book was great. Ih had all different atmospheres in it- and that was only in the first chapter! We particular liked in when Jimmy kept saying he was going to be a film director and when he situated himself already in a movie. All together, a fantastic book!
