I believe a good read is caused by the amount of someone's life seen.Humans are nosey creatures-consistingly wanting to know what's going on!Writers usually write a book about something unusual or unreal thing that has effected them,i think this might be the reason why alot of people prefer fiction to non fiction

I don't think there are strict rules... that is what makes reading so interesting - the variation and different styles that are all quite personal to a particular author make every book seem different.
Paralysed is a truly wonderful book! One of the things that I think made it seem so good was the fact that it all seemed quite realistic and the characters really did seem real. I think that's important for any book really because if you can't believe in the characters then you can't begin to feel the emotional journey(s) that they as characters travel through.
